Question:
Hi,
I'm a 21 year old diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. I have been taking 200mg of spirinolactone orally for one year and my hair loss has not improved, but in fact worsened. My dermatologist, however, has suggested that I stick with it for at least another year.
As part of treatment, I was prescribed 5% monoxidil but experienced an EXTREME allergic reaction on my scalp. I then tried 2% but had the same terrible reaction.
My hair loss is not improving, so I'm considering Revivogen as an additional treatment to the spirinolactone. However, I wanted to check whether there is a fair chance that I will be allergic to it, considering my experience with monoxidil? I've wasted a lot of money so far, but am still keen to try new alternatives.
Also, do all individuals experience the extreme shedding after 1-2 months of using Revivogen? I find the shedding to be quite emotionally distressing, but it helps to be aware whether this is normal.
Apologies for my essay! Thanks,
Stef
Dear Stef, Minoxidil contains Propylene Glycol which makes the scalp very sensitive. Revivogen does not contain Propylene Glycol and therefore you should not experence the same irritation. Not all individuals experience shedding. Also the shedding is not severe and is associated with falling of weaker Telogen hairs which get replaced by terminal Anagen hairs.
