Alopecia Areata is a condition of unknown cause that starts with patches of baldness on the scalp, or elsewhere, in childhood, adolescence, or in adult life. Patches usually regrow, but in a minority of patients the condition spreads to produce total scalp alopecia or universal alopecia. There is sometimes a family history of the condition, or of autoimmune disease including thyroid disease or eczema. In some patients psychological stress appears to precipitate attacks. Alopecia Areata is controlled with a multiple array of medications including topical and intralesional steroids, minoxidil and anthralin. As such Revivogen does not work or help this condition and in fact the only proven treatment so far has been cortisone injections and use of immunosuppressant drugs. However, Revivogen is safe to use while breastfeeding but again Revivogen cannot be used to treat Alopecia Areata.
