Question:
Hello Dr.khadavi, I'm a 20yr old female and I have been taking the medication ACCUTANE 40MG a day due to my acne, however, hairloss is considered one main side effect of Accutane. It cleard up my acne, but I've expierenced hair falling out in the shower. Im afraid, I've been on the medication for 3month already and I have one more month to go. I just ordered Revivogen? Will that help me in my circumstance? Im also taking 5mg of Biotin, and MSM to help prevent hair falling. What do you suggest me to do to stop the hair fall, should I stop the medication now , or just finish the one month I have to go?
Thank you,
Sarah A.
Dear Sarah, The hair loss associated with Accutane is called Telogen Effluvian. Usually over the course of 6-12 months most of the hair regrows. However, one third of patients get very little growth of hair back. Although Revivogen is made only for Male and Female Pattern Hair loss which is related to the genetic sensitivity to the androgen DHT, some patients with Telogen Effluvian do note great regrowth with the addition of Revivogen. There is no clinical trials on Revivogen for its use in Telogen Effluvian. It would be helpful if you can report your results along with photographs so we can tract your progress. Please discontinue the Accutane. Even with the discontinuation of Accutane you may continue to have hair loss for 2 months since Accutane can stay in your system for that time period.
